About Us
Awakening the unique spirit of men to build communities that work for everyone
Man Alive was set up in 1996 to provide much-needed services for men and boys. Our goal is to actively promote positive manhood and strong relationships through a range of integrated services. Our expertise and knowledge of how men work enables us to tailor our services, programmes and courses to meet the specific needs of men and boys. In 2002, we purchased a house on the edge of the business district in Henderson where we are developing the Man Alive Men's Centre. We also rent our large group rooms to groups during the day for modest fees. In 2004 founder Warwick Pudney recieved the Q.S.M. for his work with men and non-violence and for co-authoring books such as Volcano In My Tummy. We also started the Big Buddy Mentoring programme, which proved so successful that they have become an independent organsation.Our Mission
To promote through education, counselling, therapy and advocacy:- The well-being of men, male youth and boys;
- Non-violence and compassion in the community;
- Co-operative positive caring relationship between males
- Respecting and implementing the dual heritage of the partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
- Respecting cultural diversity and welcoming all nationalities within our community to utilise the Trust's services

Living Without Violence
Man Alive's point of difference from other non-violence programmes is that they are run by men, for men. Our Maori programme, Te Ara Taumata Ora, uses the same themes as Living Without Violence but they are delivered in culturally appropriate ways. Living Without Violence and Te Ara Taumata Ora programmes are run in accordance with the Domestic Violence Act and are approved by Probation Services.Find out more about Living Without Violence

Counselling For Men By Men
The first thing your male counsellor will do is help you clearly identify the issues. Man Alive counsellors are trained and experienced in dealing with men's issues, so they'll understand yours. Next, they'll help you develop a broader range of options to deal with the issues. As your choices increase, you'll feel better about yourself and your life. The challenge is for you to ask for support.Find out more on Counselling For Men By Men
